WPI – Arms Trade Resource Center: Economics of Security Study Group – November 19, 2004

ARMS TRADE RESOURCE CENTER

Dear Friends,

We know that all of you are still trying to digest the streams of information coming out of the election. We interrupt this reverie to announce the details of the next meeting of the Economics of Security in the Post 9-11 World Study Group.

We are delighted to welcome Winslow Wheeler to discuss his new book, “THE WASTRELS OF DEFENSE: How Congress Sabotages U. S. Security” (Naval Institute Press, 2004). Mr. Wheeler is a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Center for Defense Information in Washington who spent 30 years working on Capital Hill, on the staffs of both Democratic and Republican Senators, and for the General Accounting Office.

He was recently on 60 Minutes (October 31, 2004), commenting on equipment deficiencies for US military personnel in Iraq. We will be sending selections from his writing along with the next email
